About

Hi there! My name is Christina (with an h!).

I am an English language assistant currently working at a bilingual elementary school in Madrid. I'm from Memphis, Tennessee, a city located in the Southeast of the United States. It's famous for its rich musical history, diversity, and world-class barbecue.

I graduated from the University of Memphis in 2014 with a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and Spanish. While completing my undergraduate degree, I became interested in English as a Second language (ESL) and participated in a study abroad program in Pilsen, Czech Republic where I completed a 100-hour TEFL degree. The hands-on classroom experience in Pilsen led me to pursue my Master's degree in ESL with the intention to teach English abroad.

In 2016, I applied to be part of the North American Language and Culture Assistants Program in Spain. Although my original plan was to stay one year, flash forward four years--and I'm still here! Along the way, I've gotten to experience Spain's lovely culture and the intricacies of life here.

During my time as a language assistant, I have learned a lot from both the teachers and the students I've encountered. I spent my first two years in a small town in Murcia, followed by another two years living and working in Sevilla. Now in my fifth year, I am a more experienced and confident teacher than ever.

Please enjoy taking a look at my LA portfolio and project.
